Conversions:

1 Acre = 43,560 sq. ft.
1 Acre = 134 cubic yards @ 1″ deep
1 Cubic Yard = 27 cubic feet

Calculations:

Square Feet (SF): Width x Length (i.e. 10′ W x 90′ L = 900 SF)
Cubic Feet (CF): # sq ft 1/2 9 (i.e. 900 SF 1/2 9 = 100 CF)
Cubic Yards (CY): # CF 1/2 27 (i.e. 100 CF 1/2 27 = 3.7 CY)

Mulch:

Cubic Yard (CY) will cover 150 sq ft approx 2″ deep
1. Determine square footage of your bed (WxL) = sq ft
2. Multiply your square footage by depth desired in inches
3. Divide by 324. This will tell you how many CY.
  
  Example for 10′ x 50′ planting bed with 2″ of mulch:
  10′ x 50′ = 500 sq ft x 2″ = 1000 1/2 324 = 3 CY mulch
